There is quite a bit of controversy surrounding e-cigarettes. If you have ever vaped, you have experienced the satisfaction and positive benefits that are offered by these devices. The fact is that there are vape-hates out there and they are touting quite a bit of misinformation regarding electronic cigarettes. Some of the most important information you should know when considering whether or not e-cigs are right for you are highlighted here.

E-Cigs are a Gateway to Smoking

This is simply not true. A recent study that involved 1300 college students showed that only three members of the group actually began smoking traditional cigarettes after using the e-cigarettes. When you really think about it, three out of 1300 is quite a small figure.

The Presence of Toxins

Another study showed that the vapor produced by electronic cigarettes did not contain any type of combustion-related toxins. This is completely opposite when compared to regular tobacco smoke. While nicotine was found in the second-hand vapor, it was only detected at very small levels: as much as 10 times lower than what is produced from regular cigarettes. While there is a trace amount of nicotine in the vapor of e-cigarettes, there is no combustion toxicants.

E-Liquid is not Heart Safe

The e-liquid that goes into e-cigarettes was also analyzed which provided proof that there is no danger associated with vaping. During the study, there were 20 different types of e-liquid analyzed and the results were conclusive – there are no negative heart affects caused by this vapor.

E-Liquid is not Lung Safe

A study completed in Greece compared 15 nonsmokers and 15 smokers and the way that electronic cigarettes and traditional cigarettes affected the lungs. The conclusion showed that vaping did not create any type of negative lung affects – neither in passive or active vaping. However, tobacco smoke was much more harmful to the respiratory system than vaping.

They are a Fire Hazard and Explosive

With over 2.5 million devices in use, there have only been 25 cases of fires related to these devices. Only nine of these incidents included some level of injury and there have not been any deaths. The conclusion is clear: the fire rate for these devices is very low.

Have you thought about taking up the electronic cigarette? If so, you can clearly see that the benefits they offer are great. While there are a number of misconceptions out there, they are – for the most part – completely based on fiction. It has been proven time and time again that using an e-cigarette compared to traditional cigarettes is extremely safe for the user, as well as those around them.
