One of the things that a really good counselor will do is offer advice now and again. While it is their job to draw your feelings out of you, some people really need more than someone to listen to them. In fact, most people go to counselors for advice because they have made poor choices in life and are unable to do what is good or best for them. If you are looking for a counselor to help you get your life in control, you might be surprised at the one piece of advice that is given most often.

Why It Is So Hard to Get Control of Your Life

In today’s society the one thing that seems to be consistent in everyone’s life no matter how old or how young is the speed at which everything around them is happening. With so many advances in technology there is nothing you can’t get an answer to within just a few moments which keeps everyone spinning forward at the speed of light.

Computers are everywhere doing the thinking for us and so we are becoming lazy and less in tune with thought processes that led people to make rational decisions in the past. In other words, we have trained technology to do the thinking for us and that can lead to major problems in life. Whether you want to get a counseling degree online like the ones you can study here or a pizza delivered at precisely 8 PM tomorrow night, you can do it all online.

You Simply Can’t Keep up With a Computer – It Isn’t Possible!

Your counselor probably has a masters of counseling online degree much like the degree you worked for to prepare you for your job within your own field. Since most of what we do in life is computerized, we can accomplish more and more quickly. This has trained us to look for instantaneous results without the need to think things through and why should we? That computer is doing the thinking for us!

However, that computer isn’t human and so isn’t bound by emotions and feelings. When we try to keep up with all those tasks that are being completed in nanoseconds we can get distraught. Here is the one piece of advice any counselor should give if you feel like your life is spinning out of control and you simply can’t keep up the pace. Your counselor should tell you to travel! Take a nice long vacation to somewhere quiet and serene, somewhere that literally forces you to think for yourself.

Your counselor should advise you to leave all technology behind so that the only thing you have to rely on is your own mind, your own thoughts and your own feelings. If your counselor tells you to take a step back from life in the fast lane, travel. There is no better way to get in touch with your own feelings and gain control of your life than when taking time to look within and that’s best done somewhere with few distractions and time to search your soul. Don’t be surprised if your counselor tells you to travel. This is why.
